Lime Green Costume

L. Rose Designs - Online Catalog

They make tops, pants, skirts, arm bands and drapes, hip sashes, etc. to your measurements, excellent quality and good resale value. They have lime green stretch velvet and nylon lycra fabrics available. Not super cheap but you definitely get what you pay for in quality, fit and ease of selling later. Excellent customer service, too.

p.s. Doesn't your teacher offer assistance in putting together your costume? Is it for a group number? Discounts available for student groups.

In fact, I just got some accessories from L. Rose in lime green and they were inexpensive, but they don't look it!

I was being nosy - but FB states the content is currently unavailable, it could be temporary:D but the rest of FB is OK.

Turns out it's her privacy settings, which I can't do anything about sorry. She has some gorgeous costumes though!

Thank you for all the replies and links. I couldn't access the Facebook one either :( I'll have a look around them all and see what I can find. It's flared trousers that I need.

My teacher offers a sewing class for us to go along to and learn how to make costumes, but she charges for the classes and as well as paying for all the material, decorations, sewing equipment etc. paying to go to a class makes it very expensive! I've been to the classes before but I being a complete sewing novice I didn't find it useful as there are too many of us there and it was taking me an age to do anything, which meant paying for more classes! I think I paid about £50 for sewing classes and all I had was half a bra!

H-half a bra?!? Oh, God...

Yip! There's too many people going to the sewing classes for them to be productive for someone like me who is a complete beginner & needs a little more help & tuition! I've spoken to my mum & she said that she'll help me & between the 2 of us hopefully we can put something together & improve our sewing skills!

As far as decoration goes, I probably will keep it fairly simple. I don't tend to wear a lot of jewellery & when I do its not flashy so if I was to wear a jewel encrusted costume with lots of sparkle & bling it wouldn't be me!

I'll post pictures when I get to the point of making the costume, but it'll probably take us a while so be patient - the pictures will come! !

You say this, but I know from experience that this too will gradually change. Eventually your stage persona will develop into quite a different individual from your mundane persona & Stage Mel will eventually crave sequins. :p

That said, the majority of my costumes ARE simple, but I've made & bought heaps of bling to combine with them and herein lies the rub - the costumes themselves are plain by necessity to extend the wardrobe, but they are never plain on stage because of the bling I wear with them.

Maybe look into a basic jewellery-making/beading class because the tricks you learn there will help you bling up your costumes without holding you to one look per garment.

That's a really good idea! I'll have a look & see if any of the local colleges do classes. Would be a fun skill to learn too!
