YEP! she is at JOY...

I am looking forward to seeing her again.

Sadly I'm not going to JoY in April despite my desire to - I costed it up and it was starting to cost a flight to Egypt what with extortionate train fares, overnight accommodation, etc. Gutted really because I only ever hear positive things about it but I'm being credit crunchy!

Lorna is a wonderful dancer, I love her personality on stage but she is also extremely giving off stage as well, I couldn't think of any better combo I would want in a teacher so am thrilled we could play a part in bringing her further South. We have a UK dancer who is making a name for herself in Cairo - we should be singing that from the hilltops, what an inspiration!!

London - Leeds train fare £20 if you book early
Cheap airport hotels by the airport and you can get the bus down to Shipley....
(Although it's probably the same as the Travelodge in Saltaire)
Am I not tempting you....

Hi Karena, tell me more, I really need some help on this! I really wanna go but when I looked the train was way more expensive than that, and I was struggling to find cheap hotels or B&Bs in Saltaire but then I have zero local knowledge and am constricted by the day job as to when I can travel.

I think the April one may be out now for me anyways, but I've heard so much about the festival and would love to come to it, it's just maddening that I can't seem to get the pennies to add up to do it!

I'm looking now and you can go Kings Cross to Leeds for £12.50 each way, so £25 (that's the cheapest so I was out by £5). That would be coming Fri lunchtime and going Sun eve. The tricks if you're not used to booking long distance trains are, book early (if I'd looked for this earlier, you may have been able to get later on Fri eve), buy two singles not a return and search around the times. A return on same dates is £84. This £25 is on the 'thou shalt travel on the correct train or pay a hefty fare' basis though; if you miss the train you are looking at over £100 probably. And that cheapest fare took a bit of searching back timewise, for an extra £6 on the way up there are lots more times. You can only book 3 months in advance and there are only a certain number of the cheapest tickets.

Re the accommodation, look for Shipley not Saltaire. It's a 10 min walk along the canal and where most people stay. Gotta go, being called! PM me if you need more info. I'm pretty local so can check these things.

We saw Asmahan twice on the Nile maxim. She is great entertainer. The first time her 2 'boys' carried her in, in a heart, the second time she was inside a flower LOL!

Another evening we were dining on the Nile Pharoah and Outi was the dancer, she is lovely. It was great to meet someone from the forum as well.

We cruised from Luxor to Aswan on the el Kahila, ... fantastic trip. One night a Bd'er came on and she was just plain awful. she slouched in when the music began, stood for a moment with her hands on her hips then began to dance... a real in your face with the boobs, and the amount of 'tail wagging in your face stuff to the men was mind boggling, no one had any idea who she was, no name announced, but she was pretty bad and forgettable. Other than that the cruise was amazing.
