Thought Provoking Belly Dance Costumes: the good, the bad and the hideous

I am so confused by those cut-outs and how no one thought that having extremely clear "here's my undies" cut-outs were a bad idea.

Oh for goodness sake, what is wrong with people?

The second one is rather beautiful apart from the stupid net section - what a shame. :( :naghty:

I don't get it - either you'd have to want to make a big issue of your undies, or want everyone to be 100% focused on impending disaster. WHY?

Those cut-outs are the mothers of cut-outs! Why would a dancer want the audience focus on the dress instead of the dancing? (Though useful for covering up bad dancing I guess)

Nothing special, just the description:
"Pink & Purple Beaded Belly Dance Costume Bra Light Lavender Fairy Sexy Halloween"
If it's a costume, where is the belt?
I'm guessing the lack of a belt is what makes it Fairy SEXY Halloween

That's a beautiful woman in an ugly costume. That said, I do think it might be designed for someone with a much darker skintone (that way the cut-out panels would look nude and the lime would pop instead of looking slightly undead)

Oh, yes, that makes so much more sense. I think it could actually look quite nice on someone with darker skin. Just a disastrous costume/model pairing, for both the costume and the model!

But I think this would say Tessie the Twirler on anyone. https://www.bellydancestore.biz/gallery.php?catId=1&productId=21079
I love the models expression - sort of "seriously????"

And the crotchiest crotch flower ever: https://www.bellydancestore.biz/gallery.php?search=search&&txtKeyword=pants&&productId=21186
Extra thought-provoking points for the ridiculous ass dangle. :shok:

OMG, you'd think costumers would have realised that crotch flowers and nipple tassels were going to be mocked mercilessly by dancers by now, but those are some of the most egregious examples I've seen for ages. True classics of the genre. I'm sort of glad they keep doing it, as it brightens up an otherwise boring lunch break ;)

And you know how a key piece of costume advice is to accentuate your good bits? HeLLO knees: https://www.bellydancestore.biz/gallery.php?search=search&&txtKeyword=orange&&productId=21061

I love browsing on there...

I'm ashamed to say, I actually really like the knees costume, and would totally wear it

They're too peach for me (and I'd line the mesh with a gorgeous stretchy fabric because I once had nice legs, but now I have other areas of gorgeousness.;)) but I think they'd be fabu on the right lady. :)

Oh don't be ashamed - if you got 'em, FLAUNT 'EM!

There's a slightly nuts one on there that's a costume bra with red catsuit attached, and open lacing all the way down the side. :shok:. My teacher would rock that.

I don't mind the knees but I mind the crotch-splotch! It looks like someone grew a bucket of paint into her crotch.

This one looks like it wants to be a cheapo version of an Eman Zaki dress: https://www.bellydancestore.biz/gallery.php?catId=35&productId=20419

Eman's look like this, and whether you like it or not the harmony and stitching quality is miles above the first linked dress.

The second one looks much better, but once someone on Bhuz called this style 'boob sling for after a mammary accident' and now I can't see those costumes in the same way anymore hahahaha

If there is ONE lingerie bra you didn't have to cover if you wanted to use it as a costume bra, it would be this one:

If you can afford it is a completely different question, though...
